Recycling & Composting

Recycling & Composting in schools helps reduce the volume and cost of solid waste disposal, teaches values such as environmental ethics and personal responsibility, and serves as a model for the larger community. However, creating an infrastructure for sustainable composting and recycling can be challenging for many schools. AVR assists in creating composting and recycling programs that are tailored to the needs of your school. Working with a core group drawn from students, faculty, administration, food service staff and custodians, a waste reduction program is developed and implemented. While every school is different, project might include a waste audit, school-wide assembly, in-class workshops, signage and awareness projects, media publicity, and creation of a school-wide action plan.
